Aims and features of the papers

The papers should be available six months in advance so they can be read well ahead by the rest of the contributors, in order to be properly discussed at the colloquium, according to the groups organized thematically. To this end, preliminary versions of papers should be sent to the contact email before March 31, 2011..

Discussion Groups

The discussion of the papers will be divided into different groups as follows:

1. History of Law and Legal Iconography

2. Philosophy of Law. This group will be subdivided into the following three subgroups: a) Theory of Law and Truth; b) Legal Knowledge and Truth, and c) the Powers of Adjudication and Truth.

3. Philosophy, Epistemology, Sociology of Law, Moral Philosophy and Political Philosophy.

Discussion Rules

Presentations will be organized under the mentioned thematic groups, so that the colloquium participants only attend the presentations of the papers corresponding to their group. Each speaker will give an oral summary of his or her work in 15 minutes. In his or her absence, the editors or a person designated by them will make a synthesis of the absent author’s work. It is strongly advised that all participants read the papers in advance. Next, there will be a replica (retort) or formulation of observations from any of the collaborators that have agreed to do this task (on the basis of a proposal of the editors from a paper whose theme is related to theirs). Otherwise, the editors or a person designated bay them will carry out the replica. After the replica is completed, the editors will formulate some questions, to be followed by a discussion with the participants. When the author is absent, the questions and discussion provoked by his or her work will opportunely be sent to them. The questions, answers and discussions raised from the presentation of the papers, will be the subject of a rapport de synthèse, which will be sent in timely fashion (in the relevant part) to the editing project participants for the final writing of their papers.
